Meet the Florist.

And a little bit of family “history” about Flowers on the Wall.

Sheryl Carson, Owner & Lead Designer

With a florist for a mom, it was not uncommon to see the dining room table of Sheryl’s childhood home covered in flowers for weddings and special occasions. After being immersed in bow tying and vase filling in her youth, she found herself intrigued by the labor of love that is flower farming. She spent a season interning on an 11 acre farm in Virginia where she learned the flowers’ Latin names, proper growing and harvesting techniques for longest vase life and some basic design. Sheryl went on to to study sustainable urban development at the University of Washington, Tacoma, and developed an even deeper appreciation for the relationships between our environment, the local and global economy and social equity. After an eight year career in affordable housing, she decided to shift her sights back to flowers. It is with an enthusiasm for focusing on local products, equitable outcomes for our farmers, and a lesser impact on the environment that she composes each element of her floral design. Sheryl’s intimate relationship with the design process, flowers, fields and farmers is sure to bring a unique and distinctive elegance to your wedding or event.

Origin Story

“Flowers on the Wall” is a song made famous by the Statler Brothers in 1965. Sheryl’s dad, an elaborate story teller, often claimed that he wrote the lyrics over a few drinks and a poker game with a friend who was lamenting over “girl problems.” The story has never been (and will almost certainly never be) corroborated. However, the fanciful story remains sentimental to Sheryl and her family, and we think it makes a uniquely catchy name for a flower shop!
